About Hamantaschen
Hamantaschen are triangular cookies with filling in the center that is traditionally baked for Purim. The exact origin of this cookie is unknown, though there are lots of suggestions. About Purim
Purim is a Biblical holiday commemorating a miraculous event that unfolded for the Jewish people in ancient Persia during the reign of King Ahasuerus. Chronicled in the Book of Esther, also known as the Megillah, this captivating tale is the final installment of the Tenach. The narrative unfolds during a tumultuous period when the villainous Haman plots to annihilate the Jewish population. Through the bravery of Queen Esther and the guidance of her uncle Mordechai, the tide turns as King Ahasuerus ultimately rescinds the decree, thwarting Haman’s sinister plans. In a remarkable reversal of fortune, Haman and his followers meet their demise.
Following this divine intervention, the Jewish community celebrates their deliverance with fervor and gratitude, reaffirming their faith and identity. In honor of this momentous occasion, the rabbis of antiquity established Purim as a day of remembrance and celebration. Purim is observed by reading the Book of Esther, festive feasting, sharing food with friends and family, and extending charity to the less fortunate. It serves as a joyous reminder of resilience, unity, and the enduring power of faith. Read more here.

About Purim
Purim is a Biblical holiday commemorating a miracle that happened to Jews in Persia right at the times of the beginning of the second temple. The story is chronicled in the Book of Esther, also known as the Megillah, which is the final book of Tenach. The story happened during the time when King Ahasuerus ruled and features a villain, Hamman; a heroine, Queen Esther; and her uncle Mordechai.
The king first sides with Hamman and decrees to annihilate all the Jews, then miraculously has a change of heart and rescinds the decree and sides with Esther. Hamman and all who sided with him were killed. The day after, the Jews celebrated and recommitted to their faith and their identity. The rabbis of the time founded the holiday of Purim and insisted that it should be celebrated by reading the Book of Esther, feasting, and sharing food with friends, and charity to the poor.
